Nicole began her internship with the SERCC in February of 2024. She is currently a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Under the guidance of mentor Dr. Eric Van Otterloo, her research investigates the genetic mechanisms underlying the development of epithelial cells and explores how the reactivation of these pathways in adulthood may precipitate cancer. Nicole is passionate about leveraging writing and communication skills to further the dissemination of scientific knowledge to a wide audience.
